If you are using Internet Explorer 9 as your browser you may experience additional difficulties downloading programs from the internet. This is an overzealous security feature called "SmartScreen Filter" implemented by Microsoft and in no way bears any relationship to our company or our products. This issue does not appear to affect users of earlier versions of Internet Explorer nor does it affect users of other internet browsers such as Firefox or Chrome.
We have done everything possible to ensure your safety while downloading files from this website. Every program that we offer via the internet is signed by us (Applied Computer Systems, Inc.) to guarantee its authenticity. Our digital signatures are recognized by both Verisign and Microsoft and are extremely difficult - if not impossible - to forge. This extraordinary precaution notwithstanding, IE9 users may still receive warning messages regarding the trustworthiness of our program.
We realize that in this case SmartScreen Filter only succeeds in complicating the download process and scaring our customers. In order to ease the process, we are providing detailed instructions both for how to download the program successfully and how to verify our signature upon it. As the creator and distributor of our products, we deeply regret our lack of options in this matter. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. We thank you for your tolerance and, if you feel that this "security feature" is more trouble that it's worth, we urge you to share your thoughts with Microsoft.
Downloading FileButler for IE9 Users
1. Click the download link to begin downloading FileButler. You will receive the following warning message at
the bottom of your browser window:
At this point if you do not see this warning or if the options look different than they are pictured here, then you may not have SmartScreen Filter running in IE9. You may then continue with the normal download procedure and disregard these instructions.
2. Click the Actions button to continue to the next dialog.
3. The next warning message also includes the publisher's certificate (our certificate). You may verify the
certificate and our signature upon the downloaded file by clicking on the "Applied Computer Systems, Inc."
link inside the window. It is worth noting that if the "Publisher" field says anything else then the file may have
been compromised and you should contact us immediately.
You will notice that the only two obvious actions do not give you the option to proceed. To be given that
choice, you must click "More Options".
4. You will now be given a 3rd option labeled "Run anyway". Selecting this option will complete the download
process and launch the FileButler installation program.
5. On versions of Microsoft Windows that do additional permissions checks (Vista and later), you may need to
confirm running the installer one more time.
